What
is Vinoté?
Vinoté
is a patented wine storage and inventory system that has been designed to
track and control wine in private cellars. The system links each bottle
of wine stored to a data entry in a cellar book. Bottles carry a neck tag
with a highly visible and unique number that is duplicated in the Vinoté book,
or a bar-coded and numbered tag recorded in a computer. You choose your
wine from the cellar book and find it by looking for the numbered tag |
How
does Vinoté relieve cellaring frustrations?
It ends the frustration of lost or
misplaced bottles and helps you locate your chosen wine quickly. Vinoté prompts
you to drink every bottle when it is in prime condition, reducing the
chance
of holding your wine for too long. Your inventory remains accurate
as the numbered neck tag can be retained for accurate updating your
data,
long
after the bottle has been disposed. |
Should
we place a Vinoté label on each bottle or just use one per case?
Each bottle should carry its own label.
When you buy a case, place twelve labels on the outside of the case and
remove one label whenever you remove a bottle of wine. That will allow you
to make individual tasting notes on each bottle and to maintain a complete
inventory. |
Doesn’t
entering a case of wine involve a lot of writing?
No, in the
Vinoté Catalogue, the
first number used should be fully written up. The subsequent numbers
are simply
left blank apart from the Cellar Till entry. You quickly learn to look
back to the first entry when referencing a blank butt. In Vinoté+Plus
the process of entering multiple bottles is automated. |
Is
there any reason to move a bottle?
From
the Vinoté point of view; no. You never need to read the label or re-position
a bottle as all the important information is recorded in the Vinoté book
or database. |
Each
time we drink a bottle do we leave the space in the cellar empty or refill
it?
With
Vinoté, every space in a cellar can be filled as soon as it becomes
available. |
How
do we maintain sequential numbering once we have drunk a few bottles?
You do not try
to maintain a sequential numbering system. The numbers are in order
in the Vinoté book, or database,
not in your cellar. When a space becomes available you simply place
the next bottle in it. The numbers are very easy to read and will help
you
rapidly
locate any bottle. |
Do
we separate our reds from whites?
There
is merit in maintaining some separation of wines by colour, style,
region or what ever other breakdown you choose. While you will use
the Vinoté tag
number to locate your chosen wine, it makes it easier if you know roughly
where to start looking. |
Is
there a limit to the number of bottles I can record?
There is no limit. Each Vinoté book
has an entirely unique bottle coding system. Each box of Vinoté Neck-tags
has an entirely unique set of numbers. |
How
secure is the Neck Tag?
The
neck tag is easily put in place over any bottle but remains securely in
place under all normal circumstances. |
Why
are the Vinoté neck tags black?
White
tags detract from your cellar ambience. Black tags fade into the background,
with only the numbers standing out. Your
wine bottles remain the prime focus. |

Enter
information about the wine, your tasting notes and the occasion. |
Enter
the optimum drinking year or range of years. This entry is critical
to assist in cellar management and control. |
You
must record a date, after opening the bottle, to maintain an
accurate cellar inventory. Retain the neck tag until this has
been completed, as a reminder. |
The
neck tag, which is attached to the page with a perforation,
is applied to the bottle for identification in your cellar |
