Your Cellar Conditions

While we see many excellent cellars with poor inventory control, we do come across other large wine collections being stored poorly.

If your wine is being stored with the idea of aging some, and keeping others in good condition, you are well advised to either find some commercial storage space, while maintaining a small stock of “drink now” wines at home, or developing a better cellar at home.

Wines stored in inappropriate conditions will age considerably faster and more erratically than those properly stored. Your investment in wines is at risk when they are being stored in conditions

  • where the temperature fluctuates,
  • where the temperature is above 15 degrees centigrade,
  • where the wines are exposed to light
  • where the wines are exposed to vibration.

If your wines are suffering from one of these conditions, it is time to do something about it.
